William S. Bennett served in the U.S. Army from 1942-1945 during World War II. He served as a medical clerk in the 9th Medical Battalion, attached to the 9th Infantry Division. He achieved the rank of sergeant. Contains a short memoir written by Lila Bennett regarding William's military service. Includes a description of his military and medical duties performed during action seen in nearly every major European battle following the invasion at Normandy. Also includes a list of his theaters of combat and decorations received. Contains a transcript of the eulogy and a speech, prepared by Bennett's son, given at his funeral.
